The Chamber was represented by Ronit Benbasat, Deputy Chairperson, Who stated that: “This conference represents the Chamber ability to bring together all stakeholders involved, to work together to promote new standards in oncology care and ensure an advanced, accessible, and high-quality healthcare system for all.”

Keynote speakers included Prof. Moshe Mittelman, Chairman of the Israel Cancer Association, Moshe Bar Haim, Director General of the Israel Cancer Association, Prof. Ido Wolf, Chairman of the National Council for the Prevention, Diagnosis and Treatment of Malignant Diseases, and Idit Chernovitz, who leads the Health Committee at the Israel-America Chamber of Commerce.

Prof. Ido Wolf emphasized the importance of multidisciplinary team meetings for cancer patients, stating: “Holding a multi-team meeting for every cancer patient is a critical step in saving lives. This approach will significantly increase the quality of treatment and change lives.”

The multi-disciplinary meetings aim to ensure that medical decisions are made with careful consideration, bringing together experts such as oncologists, surgeons, radiologists, pathologists, and more to discuss each patient’s treatment plan.

Following the opening remarks, six roundtable discussions were held. The challenge for the participants was to create practical, actionable solutions that can be quickly implemented, even in times when budgets and resources are limited and, to suggest ways of implementation not only in large central hospitals but also in small hospitals and those in the peripheral areas.

The discussions were attended by senior oncologists, radiologists, surgeons, community medicine, the Ministry of Health, the Israel Cancer Association, and other patient associations. The issues raised will be consolidated into recommendations in a professional document that will be submitted to the Ministry of Health.
